Orpheus: A Concert for the Spring ![]() Thursday 25 March, 7.30pm Orpheus Sinfonia
“Conductor Nicholas Collon recreated the magical textures of this Ligeti score, gossamer threads, crystalline chords and dancing, shimmering passages were simply beguiling.” Musical OpinionThis Spring Concert is to be the first of three performances in the early part of the year given by the Orpheus Sinfonia at St Paul’s Covent Garden. The programme gets off to a whizzing start with Leonard Berstein’s funky Candide Overture. This piece, as well as excerpts from the Ravel and the entirety of the Britten, is included in our special Children’s concert “Orpheus for Schools” taking place during the afternoon. Tying the music together is an interesting connection between the composers – Ravel taught Frank Bridge and Bridge taught Britten.
