Mozart Requiem in D minor, K. 626

The first half of this performance sees the Orpheus Sinfonia and soloist Leonard Schreiber, in a complete performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major. The concerto was written in 1806, and premiered on December 23 of that year, in Vienna.

After the interval, the Orpheus Sinfonia and Orpheus Sinfonia Chorus will be joined by 4 outstanding vocalists in a complete performance of the Requiem Mass in D minor, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in Vienna in 1791 and left unfinished at the composer's death. Tonight's performance is of the original and most popular completion of the work, by Franz Süssmayr. Mozart's Requiem is one of the most enigmatic pieces of music ever composed, and many myths and controversies surround the circumstances of its composition, including the question of how much of the piece was completed by Mozart before his death, and even the extent to which the completion is all the work of Süssmayr.

Tickets:£25, £15, £5
