The Linos Piano Trio is recognised as one of the most dynamic and creative chamber ensembles. Formed in October 2007; after early exposure in the Tunnell Trust’s “Showcase for Young Musicians”, the Linos Piano Trio took the Guildhall’s Ivan Sutton award for chamber music, was awarded a full recital at the Purcell Room by the Park Lane Group in their 2011 series of concerts at the Southbank Centre, and has since gone on to be a prize-winner, finalist and semi-finalist in several international competitions. Most recently, in May 2014, the trio has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Albert and Eugenie Frost Prize for outstanding young ensemble. It is also a current Mentorship Ensemble for Chamber Studio resident at King’s Place.
With the widely varied backgrounds of the musicians – including experience in historically informed performance as well as contemporary music and composing – the Linos Piano Trio is renown for its distinctive voice to all areas of the trio repertoire. Praised for the “slow burning, gripping” performance by the Strad as well as the “astounding performance” by the Hannoversche Allgemein for their German debut, the rising reputation of the Linos Piano Trio has taken it around Britain and Europe, in the most prestigious venues, including the Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, King’s Place, Menuhin Hall, Schoenberg Center in Vienna and György Ligeti Hall.
In 2014 the Linos Piano Trio pioneered in a recording project: Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Complete Piano Trio’s, never recorded before and very rarely performed.
