Rome with Orpheus Sinfonia
Thursday 22nd May, 2014 7:30PM
St. George’s Church, Hanover Square, London W1S 1FX
Join us as we celebrate the magnificent music of Rome which boasts a heritage of hundreds of years of the most wonderful art. This evening we present a delectable showcase of the grandest of music forms, opera, along with Mendelssohn’s ever-popular Italian Symphony, described by the composer as “the jolliest piece I have ever done, especially the last movement”.
We warmly welcome the supremely talented young singers Ruth Jenkins-Robertsson and Andri Björn Róbertsson. Ruth, Opera Now’s Artist of the Month in February, is hot off the stage from Scottish Opera, where she recently performed Norina in Don Pasquale. Andri, nominated the “brightest hope in classical music” at 2013 Icelandic Music Awards, has also won many prizes and comes to us from the National Opera Studio.
